Please submit any scams that you are aware of so they can be posted here to warn others.

Shop Scams:

1. Fake Login Pages/Links to other pages - Many people will create fake items in their shops. When you click on the picture to buy the item, you are sent to another place. Some are fake login pages that look like neopets pages but are not. When you put in your username and password on the fake page, your information is sent to the owner of the shop and they will steal your account. Make sure you know how the real neopets login page works to protect yourself. Some will have the items link to their website or petpage to get you to see it. This is not allowed either. Report any shop like these by clicking the report shop button at the top of that person's shop.

2. Price changes - Watch the price of the item that you are about to buy. Many people will quickly add a zero to the end of their price to make you pay 10 times the amount of neopoints. For example, an item you want to buy says 600 at the shop wizard and when you enter the shop, the price has been changed to 6000. Make sure you see the price before buying and report any shop you see doing this using the same button as mentioned above.

3. Click on the overpriced junk item and hold down the Enter key and get... - Holding down Enter/Return will only make you buy several of that item at once.

Trades Scams:

1. Post this message in 10 trades and get... - Do not create trades with any message in them. This is a scam. No message in your trades will get you a million neopoints, a paintbrush, or a rare item. The only thing you may get for posting this message in your trades is frozen.

2. Bid on this rare petpet... - Many people will use some items that look like they might be a petpet and tell you that it is a petpet. A common item used is a Crablett. They are food, not petpets. Report anyone who calls items something other than what they actually are.

3. Bid the most on my lot and get a paint brush for having the highest bid. - You should never expect to get an extra item after a trade. A fair trade will include all items before you bid.

Neomail Scams:

1. Will you neosit my pets for me while I am away? - This scam is used by people to trick you into telling them your password. They ask you to look after their pets and probably say they will pay you for doing it. Then they will tell you that since you have their password that they should have yours. Report any person that asks you to babysit their neopets immediately using the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of every page. If you are going to be away from neopets, neopets has provided a neolodge on the main shops page that will feed your pets while you are away. Additionally, nothing bad will happen to your pets if they are not fed.

2. Send this message to 10 other people and win... - Chain letters are against the rules on neopets and there is no way neopets will give you a reward for breaking the rules. Deciding to report a person who has sent you a chain letter is up to you since most people who send chain letters did not start them.

3. Change your e-mail address and get free items - When you change your e-mail address in your user preferences to someone else's e-mail, they can request Neopets send a forgotten password through e-mail and they scammer now has your password.

4. I am with the Neopets staff and we are need you to change your password to help us. - You will never be asked by Neopets staff to change your password for any reason.

5. I can use my program to double/triple/give you a million neopoints and copy/give you any items you choose. Neomail me your password, how many neopoints you want, and what items you want and I will get them for you. - No program can hack into Neopets and copy or create items or increase neopoints.

6. Donate money to me and we can share on big banner on the noticeboard. - You will have your money taken and the person will probably never put up a notice.
