Sh'koura can form families once they find
the perfect mate. There really isn't any mystery to the process. During breeding
season a male and female sh'koura get together and soon after they will produce
between 1 - 5 cubs.
Cubs will take on characteristics of their parents, including color, markings,
and special traits, but there's no guarantee that the offspring will have all or
any of these characteristics. Color of the cubs may be entirely from one parent
or a blending of the two, this includes any markings the parents might have.
Special traits such as wings, long hair, manes, or fangs have a 40/60 shot of
appearing in cubs. So if both parents have wings, then the offspring has 80%
chance of having wings as well. Now, if one parent has feather wings and another
has leather wings, the percentage for wings is 80% but what kind is 50/50.
*cough* Confused yet?
Here are some things to consider if you want certain outcomes when breeding:
Females are rarer than males. Cubs do not always inherit their parent's
elements, and sometimes the element they inherit might even be different.
Opposite elements cancel each other out, if a sh'koura pair have opposite
elements then the offspring will have a very slim chance of inheriting any
abilities. All traits/patterns have a 40% chance of passing down to offspring.
Life Stages
Newborns - newborns stay in the den; patterns/traits are not visible,
only basic color and gender (1 week)
Cubs - cubs are ready to leave the den and find new homes;
patterns/traits are now visible (2 weeks)
Adults - adults are fully grown and are ready to find mates for the next
season
. : || Breeding Items || : .
Sh'koura do not need any special items to breed. However, if you'd like
to ensure a specific outcome for the cubs, then certain items will be necessary.
Wise, old (ok, maybe not-so-old) sh'koura are able to place their powers into
special stones which they use for a number of things. These in particular are
for breeding and are given out every so often to a sh'koura pair. The stones are
worn by the mothers and the power within the stone is absorbed, perfecting the
cubs just the way you want... sometimes. ^_^
If any are in stock, you may buy one or two for your sh'kouras.
All breeding stones can be used in combination. Multiple stones can be used on
one cub, in case you want several visible traits, for example.
NOTE: any pattern/trait stones used with Kit stone will apply to only 1
of the possible offspring.
